Vehicle vs Vehicle: Knowing the Counters and Playing SmartGuestOne of the richest parts of Battlefield 6 is how vehicles counter each other — it’s not just infantry vs vehicles, it’s vehicles vs vehicles vs infantry in layered combat. I’ve learnt this by trial and error, and it’s made my matches far more tactical and fun.
For example: a main battle tank (MBT) is strong, but it has weaknesses. If you’re in one, I’ve realised you need to avoid frontal assaults unless you’re absolutely sure. The front armour is tough; but flank it, hit the sides or rear, and you’ll damage it fast. That’s where Engineers or IFVs (infantry fighting vehicles) with side attacks can win. The map knowledge matters: understanding where tanks will drive, what routes they’ll take, where they’ll be vulnerable.
Similarly, IFVs are more nimble than MBTs, but less heavily armoured. If you’re infantry and you spot an IFV, one good plan is to bait it: let it reveal itself, maybe engage, then attack while it reverses or repairs. If you’re in a tank facing an IFV, you need to keep it at mid-range where your heavier armour matters more.
For air vehicles (attack helicopters, jets), there are dedicated counters: mobile anti-air vehicles, guided launchers on foot, smart positioning and awareness. I remember being in a transport heli thinking we were safe — until a mobile AA vehicle tracked us from cover and nailed the pilot. That had me changing tactics on the fly.
What’s especially enjoyable is that I’ve gone from feeling “oh no here comes a tank, what do I do?” to “okay I recognise its route, I know its counter, let’s set up the ambush”. You shift from reaction mode to planning mode. You talk to your squad about what vehicle they’re facing, where to shoot from, how to disrupt it.
One tip I picked up: don’t ignore map-specific routes. A vehicle spawn point leads to a particular exit path. If you know it, you can camp or set up counters.
